Experience a Trial Lesson With Us

Learning drums can be a long and tedious journey; hence we understand the need to select your instructors carefully and thoroughly. We only want you to enroll with us if you are 100% sure of the value that we provide for you and our commitment to not only drumming, but also teaching.

Therefore we invite you to a full-length trial class, to understand what is our process of teaching, your process of learning, and the experience of the instrument itself before choosing us to help you on this journey.

What to expect in your trial lesson

If you are a beginner:

The fundamentals of communication in music, learn the basic understanding of reading and playing so that you can revisit the lesson with the notes provided in your own free time. Learning to read will also allow you to utilize more exercises that you might find online.
Learning good fundamentals is vital as bad habits are the easiest to develop at this stage. It will be increasingly difficult to adjust/change bad habits after this stage as it will often require you to relearn all the coordination exercises you have done.

Understanding the principles of basic techniques also allow you to utilize the correct muscles, allowing you to have a more efficient playing as you progress.

As mentioned in our previous article, there is a great difference in playing on electronic vs. acoustic drumsets. We strongly encourage periodically spending some time on acoustic drums to develop your techniques properly.

This is also why we spent 5 times more on our renovation costs to ensure our facilities can house acoustic drumsets so that you don’t have to.

The trial lesson is not only for you to understand your instructors, but also for us to understand your learning process to provide you with a more effective learning approach.

Through a series of structured steps during the trial, our instructor would be able to identify your aptitude in key areas of your learning journey, and would be better equipped when you enroll with us in tackling your weaknesses and enhancing your strengths.

Some key areas we will look out for:

  • Understanding of notational reading
  • Natural sense of rhythmic space
  • Coordination
  • Muscle Stiffness
  • Ability to follow metronome/ song

At the end of your trial lesson, 10 mins will be allocated to discussion/consultation. Feel free to ask any questions regarding any topics you have on drums. This could be information that you find online that you find confusing or things that you might not fully comprehend in the trial lesson.
The instructor will also go through their findings throughout the class and advise you on practice routines/exercises to work on, as well as administrative questions you might have for our lessons.

*Trial lesson flow is similar for both kids and adults, with content specially curated for different age groups.
