New Head of Curriculum

We are proud to announce that Istanbul Mehmet, Los Cabos and Pantheon percussion artist Ridwan Johari will be joining us full time as our head of curriculum.

Ridwan has extensive teaching and playing for the past 15 years and has been voted best teacher in his previous establishment.

At the age of 17, he played with the Nanyang Polytechnic Symphony Orchestra and the Nanyang Polytechnic Percussion Ensemble. Believing in the concept of a strong foundation and note reading fundamentals, Ridwan honed his skills during this musical period.

He has played and sessioned for different types of musical acts, genre ranging from rock and metal to R&B, batucada, and even mando indie-rock. Past musical acts include Aquila Vasica, MRTNS, Tacit Aria, Mind VS Matter, Anechois, Niine, and MOTUS. He is currently the drummer for metal band, Reserate and also plays for a mando indie singer-songwriter, Goose.

With the different musical acts he has played in, Ridwan has travelled to different parts of the world such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Netherlands and even Austria, playing at their local shows and music festivals. Locally, he has performed on renowned stages of music festivals such as Baybeats, IGNITE! Music Festival and ITE Rock Central. He has even opened for UK pop-punk juggernauts, Neck Deep when they stopped by Singapore for their Asia Tour in 2018.

He’s currently teaching drums full-time in a music school to upcoming and aspiring drummers. He imparts his knowledge and experience of drumming and emphasizes on the importance of a strong foundation and clear fundamental skills to his students. He’s also in a community group called Drummerco, where they host and organise drumming events such as drum clinics, masterclasses, workshops and even drum sheds to promote and grow the drumming community in Singapore.
